If you research your competitors, you will probably notice that they have some backlinks in common which you don’t have yet. Well, if they managed to get these backlinks, why shouldn’t you too? Optimizing your site’s speed score is an important factor because your visitors aren’t going to wait around for your page to load. They have thousands of options to choose from on the web, and if your blog isn’t loading fast enough, they will hit the back button to explore the other options listed on Google. Location search is growing every year and we are using our mobile phones daily to search for answers and solutions locally to us. Search Engine Optimisation is the process of designing web pages, writing content and building a network of links back to your website in order to rank at the top of a google search results page. The goal is to bring your page in front of your target market. This kind of search traffic is known as 'organic' and it is the most desirable google traffic because it's FREE! (well unless you are paying a blog content writer!) Important elements of a website redesign oftentimes get
pushed to the side when timeframes are constrained. One of
the most important components of a new design project is to
take time at the beginning to analyze current traffic to ensure
current visitors are not lost.
Use some of your best keywords in your bio
SEO isn’t an exact science. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t given us a comprehensive list of ranking factors. Considering that Google has around 200 major ranking factors, and as many as 10,000 sub-signals, we can’t possibly know every single aspect of their algorithm. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is an integral part of any digital marketing strategy. It is a crucial element in organically driving customers to your businesses via online platforms. In other words, it's modern day marketing! Web users want to see what the content (and therefore the title) is about without having to click on it. Allowing the readers to read the whole title in the search results will attract more qualified leads and customers to your site because they will know what they’re getting on the other side of the link rather than just quickly clicking to see what the rest of the title is about. Google’s robots, or “spiders,” crawl the Internet by “clicking” one link after another after another. They discover new pages and websites as part of that crawl, and store the content of each of those pages in a giant database. Pay attention to how and where you’re linking in your content. There’s a balance here that might take some practice to nail down.
SEO demands consistent output. Content marketing requires consistent.
When you write guest posts for other websites, don’t do it just for the purpose of getting a link in the author bio. Contrary to popular belief, linking out to relevant external websites does not directly impact your search rankings. Google is a very smart company. The sophistication of the algorithms they write is incredible; bear in mind that there are currently cars driving themselves around Silicon Valley powered by Google’s algorithms. SEO in Hull is here. SEO can be quite complicated, but you can absolutely develop a keyword strategy and take care of the essentials on your own. Don’t try to improve your website’s reputation by buying
links or deliberately sharing links. Google has become very good at
detecting these types of manipulative measures. It means that you
risk falling heavily down in the rankings and it can destroy much of
what you have spent time and money on creating.
Reduce “Code Bloat” on your Pages
According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "When URL parameters are generated using site filters, there is a high risk of creating issues that impact the ranking of the page. " Write “linkbait” articles that will attract the attention of social networks. These articles can be valuable resources, controversial, or humorous. SEO’s need to have the skill and experience to help the client develop a social media strategy, deliver training and support, create policies and processes and ensure their clients up-skill accordingly so that social media contributes to the wider commercial objectives of the client not just the SEO objectives of the agency. NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone Number. NAP is critical for businesses wanting to rank highly in local search results. Google cross-references your contact information across your own website, and local online directories in order to validate your company. Inconsistent information can be the reason your SEO is failing. Let’s face it, a website that can’t get its contact details right is more than likely not worth a visit. Hence, Google ranks these websites lower. You have to get your digital footprint right before you do anything else. Developers who aren’t already focused on SEO requirements aren’t necessarily keeping up with these changes, which will present a challenge to brands and open up additional opportunities for developers with updated SEO knowledge and skills.
Hummingbird also impacts long-tailed search queries
In the past, creating keyword rich anchor text used to be considered an effective strategy as long as they were on relevant sites. However, those days are long gone! Now, any keyword rich anchor text that you create on your own goes against Google’s guidelines. We all know that videos are a great way of keeping audience engaged and entertained. But do you know that by using enough videos, you can improve the ranking of your page on the SERPs. If you sign up to become a member for a site, you'll get a link in your profile. Well, not every site. Some sites will allow quality links in your profile, while others won't. Some are in the middle, such as Twitter, which gives nofollow links (links that don't pass link juice). Make an account with both Google and Bing, and access each Webmaster Tools (Google recently renamed Google Webmasters and it’s now Search Console) area to ensure your website has proper indexing. Beyond indexing, they help you evaluate your internal links, diagnose or fix problems, as well as your website’s backlinks and which keywords are sending you traffic. If you don’t want to spend any money on a keyword tool, you can simply google the keyword you want to rank for. Does your site ‘fit in’ with the results Google shows you? Or are the sites on the results pages much larger or more well-established than your website?
Search engine penalties are much rarer than people think
Through links, search engines use robots called crawlers and spiders to skim information, collect data, catalog content and make connections based on relevant information. As spiders gather together all this information, they break down, prioritize and sort related information using a process called indexing. Test the results of changes, and keep changes tracked in an Excel spreadsheet, or whatever you're comfortable with. Would you rather read 5 articles about one subject, or one or two well thought articles with significant amounts of data or thought process to back them up? If you’re not able to rank on the first page, try to write another article, focused on a (even) more long tail keyword. Make it a little bit more specific, more niche. And see how that goes. In the world of SEO, there is speculation that Google’s indexer will only give a certain document credit for having a given word in its title if that word appears in the first 12 words of the title tag.
